How do I select the best attorney for my personal injury case?
I had a client call last week and ask what they should consider when choosing the best personal injury attorney in Georgia. I told them there were two factors they should consider. First, I told them they should go interview the lawyer personally. Ask about the lawyer’s experience. Is personal injury that attorney’s core practice? Ask that lawyer what his plan for the case is; what is the timeline for the case? Ask the lawyer if he has the resources to prosecute that case fully, as well. Does he have the resources to hire expert witnesses, such as engineers, doctors, or accident reconstruction experts? Is that lawyer a trial lawyer, and will he submit that case to focus groups to find out the best way to present that case to a jury?
The second thing a potential client should look at in hiring a personal injury attorney are online reviews for that lawyer. Look at the lawyer’s client reviews, Google reviews, Avvo reviews, and Facebook reviews. See what past clients are saying about the lawyer. What kind of experience did they have with the lawyer? Did the lawyer get them a good result? There are also lawyer-to-lawyer reviews online you can look at on Super Lawyer, Martindale-Hubbell, Best Lawyers, and Top 100 High Stakes Litigators. If the potential lawyer is highly ranked in those lawyer-to-lawyer reviews, then I think you’d be getting a good lawyer.
