Several roads on Hilton Head are currently experiencing standing water, with Marshland Road near Jessica Drive being notably affected. Motorists are reminded not to underestimate the dangers associated with driving through pools of standing water, as even shallow water can lead to vehicle damage or accidents. The recommended safety mantra is clear and straightforward: “Turn Around, Don’t Drown.”
Additionally, the town advises that some intersections may have traffic lights in “flash mode,” which must be treated as stop signs. Delays in traffic signal detection can also be expected. To ensure public safety, town officials are actively collaborating with the South Carolina Department of Transportation to assess and address flood-prone areas, placing cautionary signs where necessary.
